Privacy and Data Ownership

Minstrel is designed around local project files. Your manuscripts, notes, exports, and project documents stay on your Mac unless you choose to send, export, sync, share, or process them through another service.

You control your local files. You can copy, move, export, back up, or delete them from your Mac using the tools available to you.

Some writing assistance features can send prompts, selected project context, and related writing excerpts to the provider configured for that feature so the provider can return a response.

Minstrel tries to send the context needed for the feature, not your entire project by default. The exact provider may depend on your app settings, your own provider key, or a Minstrel-managed service path.

If you use your own provider key, that provider processes the request under its own terms and privacy policy. If you use a Minstrel-managed service path, requests are routed through Minstrel infrastructure so the provider can return a response.

For direct-download subscriptions, Minstrel and its service providers process account email, payment status, Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, subscription periods, entitlement records, activation records, installation identifiers, and support lookup details. Payments are handled by Stripe.

For Mac App Store purchases, Apple handles the purchase. Minstrel may process Apple StoreKit transaction identifiers, app account identifiers, app version, distribution channel, and a local installation identifier to activate the app and help with support.

Trial, subscription, purchase, and activation records are used to activate access, renew or restore access, prevent abuse, process cancellations, refunds or disputes, and provide support.

If you contact support, Minstrel processes the email address, messages, files, screenshots, logs, and other details you choose to send.

Please do not send full drafts to support unless Minstrel specifically asks for a small file or excerpt that is needed to debug a problem.

The website and service infrastructure may generate ordinary operational logs, such as request time, IP address, user agent, URL, error information, security events, and delivery status.

The website uses Vercel Web Analytics to measure aggregated page visits and a small set of actions such as download clicks, checkout starts, successful checkout returns, and support-email clicks. This analytics setup does not use cookies. Minstrel does not send manuscript content, support message text, email addresses, account or installation identifiers, billing details, checkout session identifiers, or writing-assistance prompts and responses as analytics event data.

Minstrel uses this information to run the website, process subscriptions and purchases, deliver emails, secure the service, debug problems, prevent abuse, and understand whether core pages and flows are working.

Minstrel may use third-party services for hosting, security, payments, app distribution, activation, database storage, email delivery, support, service health checks, and writing assistance features.

Examples can include Apple, Stripe, Supabase, Vercel, GitHub, and configured model or service providers. These services process information needed to provide their part of the service.

Project files remain under your control on your Mac. Minstrel does not control how long you keep local files, exports, settings, or local app data.

Purchase, subscription, trial, activation, support, email, and server-log records are retained as needed for accounting, fraud prevention, customer support, security, legal compliance, and service operation.

You can delete local project files, exports, app settings, and local app data from your computer. You can also choose whether to use features that send selected writing context to a configured provider.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive information about personal information Minstrel holds about you. Email support to make a privacy request.

Minstrel may need to keep some records when required for legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, dispute, security, or service-operation reasons.
