Write and format your manuscript

Use the focused editor and lightweight formatting controls.

A manuscript open in the Minstrel editor.
The manuscript stays central while project tools remain one click away.

Format with intent

The toolbar includes Heading 1, 2, and 3, bold, italic, underline, bulleted lists, numbered lists, a thesaurus, and scene breaks.

  1. 1Select text before applying bold, italic, or underline.
  2. 2Use a consistent heading level for chapters of the same kind.
  3. 3Use lists in planning material or notes when order and grouping matter.
  4. 4Insert a scene break when time, place, viewpoint, or action shifts within a chapter.

Use headings as structure

Headings do more than change appearance. They give the Chapters panel a useful outline and make the shape of a long manuscript easier to navigate.
