Recover a project that will not open

Choose an available recovery copy

If a saved .mns project cannot open, Minstrel checks for usable recovery copies on this Mac. This is separate from Rewind, which requires a project that can open.

1. 1In the file-open failure dialog, inspect Recovery copies and their dates.
2. 2Select the copy you want, then choose “Recover selected copy…”.
3. 3Save the recovered project with a new, unused filename. The original project and retained recovery copies stay unchanged.
4. 4Open and inspect the recovered work before deciding which copy to continue editing.

When recovery is unavailable

If no usable recovery copy is available, restore a separate backup. If recovery copies could not be checked, try opening the project again. A failed recovery save may need a different unused filename or writable destination.
